Comfort and Convenience

A hospitable interior goes a long way for those who are searching for an SUV to drive throughout Augusta, especially when you have little ones riding in the backseat. If they’re within the Mazda CX-30, you won’t have to worry about airflow reaching the second row thanks to standard rear seat air vents. You’ll have to set the fan speed of the front air vents quite high to reach a similar effect in the Honda HR-V, as it lacks this convenient feature. Doing so may drown out the music quality of the HR-V, given its standard 4-speaker arrangement. While you can opt for an available 8-speaker variation to compensate, you’ll have to pay extra for a feature that is standard in Mazda’s model. Both SUVs share optional leather seats, though there are only two upholstery color variations in the HR-V compared to the Mazda CX-30’s four.

Performance

The competition really begins to heat up as we explore the components tucked away within the engine bay of the 2026 Mazda CX-30 and the 2026 Honda HR-V. With just a standard 2.0L 4-cylinder system that makes 158 horsepower¹ and 138 lb.-ft. of torque², owners of the latter SUV will lag behind Mazda’s model that hides a standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine underneath its hood. Capable of making 186 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque, you’ll catch up to the flow of traffic on I-520 faster than you would in Honda’s vehicle. What’s more, the Mazda CX-30 can squeeze out up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque thanks to an optional 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, a system that the HR-V lacks altogether. While each SUV does have an AWD configuration as an available drivetrain, only the Mazda CX-30 will be complemented with an off-road assist³ function.

Technology

It’s common for modern-day vehicles to have infotainment panels that help manage media, system adjustments, and safety alerts all in one place. Though the Honda HR-V’s standard 9-inch touchscreen has an infinitesimal edge over the Mazda CX-30’s standard 8.8-inch center display⁴ , it’s controllable through a Multifunction Commander Control system that is not present within the HR-V. Mazda’s model has one more trick up its sleeve that is typically relegated to cars within the luxury segment, and that’s an optional 360° View Monitor⁵ . It allows you to get a birds-eye angle of what’s around your car, though you’ll just have to make do with the available Rearview Camera⁶ with Dynamic Guidelines in Honda’s model if you want to back out of a space at the Augusta National Golf Club.
