Technology

Analog gauges are no longer available in the Mazda CX-5, as all trims come standard with a 10.25-inch fully digital LCD meter display featuring engaging vehicle animations. That’s not the only panel that has received a touchup, however. Resting royally to its right is a standard 12.9-inch touchscreen center infotainment system. Gone is the rotary dial that commanded the previous generation of this SUV’s multimedia panel, which you can now control with a series of finger gestures. Performance

Typically, cars designed from the ground up can cause apprehension among some buyers when a new powertrain is involved. However, with the 2026 Mazda CX-5, you can take comfort in knowing that it uses the manufacturer’s trusted engine — a standard 2.5L 4-cylinder system that makes 187 horsepower and 183 lb.-ft. of torque. Also returning is a standard 6-speed automatic transmission, which has been a tried and true gearbox over the course of many years. Mazda’s commitment to being a manufacturer that invests heavily into the driving experience shows through a standard i-ACTIV AWD® system. It’s primarily front-wheel biased for enhanced fuel economy ratings, which is why the Mazda CX-5 is able to net 24/30 city/hwy² in EPA-estimated mileage figures.

Design

Show off your vehicle by simply driving through the Hitchcock Parkway and watching for looks of approval from other motorists who get to see the updated rear view. Replacing the brand’s emblem is Mazda spelled out in sophisticated lettering. The standard LED taillights are slimmer and more angular, and we believe this to be a strong indication of how the design of this SUV has evolved into a sleeker model overall. Rather than the previous generation’s singular LED headlamps, the 2026 Mazda CX-5’s illuminators are given a stacked appearance to make them appear more defined.
